The “ Celtic Tree of Life” is a particularly poignant symbol in Haiti. Trees are a precious, though rapidly disappearing resource, where less than 1.5% of natural growth remains, due to deforestation. The culprits: poor land management practices and grinding poverty. Between land being cleared for subsistence farming - which constitutes two-thirds of Haitian labor activity - and wood being harvested to provide 70% of the nation’s fuel, the tropical forests of Haiti are virtually gone. The upshot is topsoil erosion amounting to 36 million tons annually, accelerated land degradation, silting lakes and waterways, increased greenhouse gases, and deaths numbering in the thousands due to mudslides when heavy weather strikes.

My full name is Herby GERMAIN, I was born on February 13, 1994 in Haiti in the commune of Delmas, I have been living in croix des bouquets(Noailles) since 2003 and that's where I finished my classical studies.
I entered university in 2015 where I was studying medicine, I didn't finish this study, I went to learn customs techniques, I finished this study and I also graduated
I have been making crafts for a long time because my father was the first supplier of materials in the village, due to my school I did not really focus on crafts because I needed to finish my studies
After that I came to take crafts very seriously because I had a love for it so much, I started making lots of samples so I could get orders so I could help myself and my family more
